What is Dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning removes (exfoliates) the outermost layer of your facial skin. It also removes “peach fuzz,” the fine hair on the face. It’s performed by a licensed aesthetician using a scalpel and a very light touch of feathery, gentle strokes.
What are the Benefits of Dermaplaning?
Removing the top-most layer of skin will reveal the soft, glowing skin beneath, and eliminating the peach fuzz on the face makes your foundation go on very smoothly. It’s especially wonderful for those who either don’t want or can’t use chemical exfoliators due to allergies.
How is Dermaplaning Performed?
Using a scalpel held at an angle, dead skin is exfoliated using a very light touch of feathering, gentle strokes. It feels like shaving, but results with greater skin resurfacing.
There’s no anesthesia needed at all for this procedure. The aesthetician will thoroughly cleanse face before your treatment, and then, placing the blade at an angle on the face, make short, feathery strokes with the blade—just enough to remove the top layer of skin without discomfort. It will feel like shaving.
How Often Should I Undergo Dermaplaning?
You can have a Dermaplaning treatment every 4-6 weeks, as your skin’s cells “turnover,” to keep that wonderful glow of new skin. It also helps the skin to absorb and retain moisture & beneficial skin products for optimal anti-aging results.
How Expensive is Dermaplaning?
In the Dayton area, Dermaplaning generally runs from $85 and up.
